About Us
The Corning Area Tavern League is a traveling 8-ball pool league
serving Corning, NY and it's surrounding areas. The league uses a
unique team handicap system that evens the playing field for all skill
levels. All teams receive prize money at the end of the season from a
Scratch and a Handicap prize money pool according to their standings
in each category. A season-ending league banquet is provided and
includes a Singles League Championship Tournament that is also
handicapped.
The Corning Area Tavern League is sanctioned by the ACS Pool
League and members are eligible to participate in the ACS 8-Ball
Championships held in Las Vegas during May and the Q-lympics held
in Louisville, Kentucky during November. Members are also eligible to
participate in several other ACS sanctioned events held throughout the
year at various locations.
Our league prides itself on its commitment to local charity and sets
aside funds for worthy causes. Our first priority is to attempt to keep
those funds within the pool community. We have donated to a
scholorship fund set-up for the young children of a mother (the daughter
of one of our members)who tragically passed-away too early in life due
to cancer. When we are lucky enough to not have a need within our
pool community, our charity funds have been used to "adopt" needy
families at Christmas-time. Our most ambitious year involved an
"adopted" family with 13 members (11 children + mom and dad). We
set out on a campaign to raise extra funds for the endeavor and our
membership came through with $1500 that was used to buy gifts for
the children. Additionally our members found other sources for several
boxes of groceries and even some movie tickets!
